2010 Midwest Fat Tire Championship Series


Decmber 5th Meeting Results:

We want to thank Larry Martin (USAC) and Ron Acklin, (United Federation of Dirt: UFD), for attending at such a short notice – their information and input was very helpful and we look forward to working with both organizations for the binary trading india legal continued advancement of Mountain-biking in the Midwest Region.

Some key results from the meeting include;

  1. MWFTCS to remain an Independent Series, (no racer licensing requirements).
  2. Nine Races scheduled: Six (6) XC formats, (includes Marathon class). Three (3) Endurance formats (2ea. 3/6 hour, 1ea. Long Distance).
  3. Race Scoring; All “XC races” will be raced & scored by distance.
  4. Expert distance to increase from previous years.
  5. Marathon will continue to be scored on a time basis (3 hour).
  6. “Majority Rules” agreement among MWFTCS Promoters required for any MWFTCS series changes / decisions.
  7. All decisions affecting the series must be based primarily upon benefitting the Racer, and the Sport of Mountain-biking.

We have asked for, (and received), a schedule of the UFD series – and we have configured our race dates referencing the UFD schedule; with the hopes of preventing any race date conflicts.

The 2009 Midwest Fat Tire Championship Series season has come to an end. Each season our series is successfully run by a group of elected  Board Members and the series Promoters. Our new Board Member for the 2010 season are as follows:

2009 MWFTCS Annual Awards Banquet (Sponsored by the MWFTCS Race Promoters)

The end of the year awards banquet was held at our final race this year. Mountain Madness, Promoter Mac Vorce, in Warsaw, MO:   The MWFTCS and it's Promoters offered all racers a BBQ dinner and presented our overall class champions with awards, cash payouts and lots of shwag.

Meeting for the 2010 Race Season

The end of the year Promoters and Board Members meeting was held on Sat, December 5th 2009.  This was to set up the 2010 race season and welcome back 6 race promoters and welcome 2 new promoters. Meeting Agenda:

  • USA Cycling spokes person Larry Marting presented USAC insurance policy guide lines
  • Elect new officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary
  • Vote on insurance for the series
  • Welcome/reinstate race promoters
  • Lay out dates for the 2010 race season
  • Review the Fat Tire rule book
  • Vote on updates to the rulebook
  • Introduce a new promoters packet including insurance guidelines for each race, and a list of items to help with pre-race preparations.

Whats New with MWFTCS

We have welcomed back 6 promoters and welcomed 2 new races to our series.   The Board has also implemented for the 2010 season an updated rulebook. You can view the updated rulebook under the race information section of the Main Menu.

New MWFTCS List Serve

For the 2010 season we have added a List Serve, which will allow the Series Board Members to Communicate with the series participants throughout the year,  ie, rained out races, Board meetings, and the Annual Awards Banquet.  You can sign up at the Fat Tire website at

MWFTCS Activities

The Board would like to invite all Promoters to advertise winter activities on our new blog section.  This includes weekly rides, and any winter races you are promoting or participating in.  This will help open communication between racers and the MWFTCS Promoters.

Welcome to the Midwest Fat Tire Championship Series

The Midwest Fat Tire Championship Series is entering its eighteenth year of promoting mountain bike racing across Missouri. We sanction some of the largest area mountain bike races and are one of the longest running organized series in the country. Our races are some of the best courses in the region where racers enjoy technical, challenging course layouts, while respecting the land and promoting fair use. There are racing categories for all levels from beginners to experts to marathoners. These races offer some of the best competition and camaraderie in the region - join us for the 2010 season!

Category points are posted as well - the fastest 22 racers in Beginner and Sport/Expert are tallied after each race to aid in determining racing categories for 2010.

The top 5 Beginners overall are required per the rulebook to move up to Sport or Marathon for the 2010 season.
